The Colorado Broadband Office is pleased to bring you the February Lunch & Learn webinar on February 25, 2020 at 12 p.m. featuring The Broadband Fund. Join us as we talk with Brian Martin, Acting Broadband Fund and Deployment Director, about the grant cycle, program goals, and discuss the ways interested parties can apply for funding.
The Broadband Fund in the Executive Director’s Office in the Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA) exists to connect communities and fuel economic growth in unserved areas across Colorado. The Broadband Deployment Board, authorized under revised statute 40.15.509.5, runs competitive grant cycles overseen by the Broadband Fund to award funds to projects designed to deploy broadband service in unserved areas of the state. With a portfolio of 31 projects utilizing over 24 million dollars in funding, the Broadband Deployment Board offers awards to projects based on multiple factors, including community involvement, geographic need, sustainability, cost effectiveness, and community impact.
The Broadband Deployment Board supervised the first grant cycle in 2016 and now manages two separate grant cycles per year with an average of 20 applications per cycle. The Broadband Deployment Board awards funding to projects aiming to provide more households with access to cost effective and worthy broadband plans from local providers and electrical cooperatives.
