Lunch & Learn Series: 911 Grant Program
May 26 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm
The Colorado Broadband Office is pleased to bring you the May Lunch & Learn webinar on May 26, 2020 at 12 p.m. featuring the 911 Grant Program.
Yuki Miyamoto, Federal Program Officer, National Telecommunications and Information Administration
Daryl Branson, State 911 Program Director, Colorado Public Utilities Commission
The 911 Grant Program is jointly administered by the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). In August 2019, $109 million in grant funding from the 911 Grant Program was announced for public safety answering points (PSAPs) to upgrade NG911 capabilities. Colorado received $2.3 million in grant funds from the program.
This session will provide information on recent developments of the 911 Grant Program and highlight some of the implementation plans from the states and tribal nations that received federal grant awards. Yuki Miyamoto will discuss the 911 grant awards and highlight how this funding enables next generation emergency communications capabilities such as managing 911 call center overload as call-takers are able to transfer calls, messages and data between PSAPs that are interconnected to an IP network.
Daryl Branson will share how the $2.3 million in grant funds is being implemented in Colorado for migration of PSAPs to the Statewide Emergency Services IP-network (ESInet).
