White Paper: Distance Learning in Colorado – Access Anywhere to Education Everywhere

Colorado Broadband Office K-12 Connectivity

In the town of Brush on Colorado’s eastern plains, a high-school student wakes up early to help the family farm start their day. By 8:00 in the morning the student is taking an Advanced Placement (AP) English class at Telluride High School. Later that day, a middle school class at Brush gets a lesson in dendrochronology (the study of tree rings) from the Crow Canyon Archeological Center in Cortez, Colorado. That afternoon our high school student finishes up her classroom work with a Spanish 2 class from the high school 50 miles down the road. Sound impossible? Not only is this possible, it is happening today in Colorado via interactive video distance learning.
