There is perhaps no service as complicated as modern telecommunications from a policy perspective. Fiber optics, DSL, cable, wireless, wired, 4G, 5G, Wi-Fi – the number of technologies that provide our communications platforms seems to expand daily. With this rapid pace of change, maintaining good public policy can be a challenge.
One of the roles of the Colorado Broadband Office is to provide a space and mechanism for all stakeholders, public and private, local, state, and federal, to collaborate and address the challenges that communities and states face to ensure their citizens have the connectivity they need to flourish. The CBO does not set policy, that’s the role of the Governor and Colorado General Assembly. However, the CBO attempts to identify the issues, educate stakeholders on the most salient ones and provide factual analysis as needed.
