FCC CAF Phase II Auction
The incumbent provider in Colorado (CenturyLink) accepted the allocated funds in our state (and is actively upgrading locations). However, there is money remaining in the fund for additional projects. Under the rules, any funding not accepted by the Incumbent Local Exchange Carrier (ILEC) in others states is to be ‘auctioned off’ in a reverse funding auction to any organization (private entities only) interested in serving specific areas. The FCC is finalizing the specifics of how the auction will work and we expect the process to begin some time in early 2018.
Please visit our CAF Phase II Auction page for up to date information and resources.
The two major funding sources for broadband in Colorado are the Broadband Deployment Fund (available to private entities) and the Department of Local Affairs (DOLA) Energy Impact Assistance Fund (available to local governments). Please visit the program websites for detailed information of these funding opportunities.
Feel free to contact the Broadband Office if you have any questions about these programs or any other funding opportunities.
